BOSTON FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

Until I had my own children, I didn’t realize motherhood would feel like this — that I would wish for time to slow down and speed up all at once. To plan for their future and crave the past, hoping to truly embrace what my kids are like at every age, while preparing them for the next.

While it’s frustratingly impossible to remember every second of the cuddles and the charm of my kids before they’re onto the next phase of childhood, it is possible to slow down, every once in a while to give a resounding yes to what life is like right now. That is what we’ll do with your family photos — carving out time at this stage to document what you’ll look back on in just a few months. I promise you’ll be glad you made the time for it.

“We absolutely love Stephanie and her photography! We have had pictures taken by her yearly for 6 years and counting now. We have 3 young kids and she always does an amazing job interacting with them, getting to look at the camera, and capturing their true personalities. We drive more than 90 minutes to get our pictures taken by her because we love her work so much.”

I’ve found that families are most comfortable outside — the slight breeze, fall foliage (if it’s that time of year) and space to roam invites a relaxed atmosphere that results in stunning photos. I will usually recommend a location that I know will be perfect for your family and the photos you have in mind. However, if there’s a more sentimental location you have in mind, we can consider that!

Where will we take our photos?

Many families want unposed photography, but often rely on some posing guidance to get comfortable in front of the camera. As a result, I use a mix of both documentary and posed photography to take beautiful photos that will capture the personalities of your family.

How candid versus posed is your style?

The golden rule is complimentary, muted colors. Picture soft greens, beige and navy blues across the board, as opposed to your entire family in all blue or all white. We can get creative, though, so just ask if you need help and I’ll share feedback from a photographic perspective.

What should we wear?
